Muso-Ka (English: Dreamer) is a direct reference to cognitive dissonance. The Geisha in this piece looks out over a city filled with skyscrapers and ancient structures. She is living in a reality that mirrors traumas of the past, while offering fragments of an unseen future. She is living in darkness and is unable to escape the darkness, because it doesn’t actually exist. Darkness is merely the absence of light. Unable to move towards the light she will remain trapped in the past, dreaming of a reality that doesn’t exist. Its imposable to live in the present while remaining heavily invested in concepts of what could, or could have been. Sometimes it’s as if the present never really exists.
